Hit Squad at Annecy

Hit Squad at Annecy

We took extensive footage of Hit Squad to Annecy in June, and the response was everything we had hoped for.

Hit Squad began as an idea of my father’s from the late 1970s that never got made. It is now an espionage action-comedy set in 1990s London, following an international team of spies putting death before dishonour against a murky world of hidden foes.

It is a full puppet show. Next-generation Supermarionation, built for an adult audience, blending practical marionette work with modern digital effects and a considerably darker sense of humour than anything we have done before.

I am executive producing alongside the team at Anderson Entertainment, with Darren Walsh directing and Russell McLean producing, in partnership with Warner Bros. Animation and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe.

Showing puppets to a room full of animation professionals is a particular kind of nerve-wracking. They know exactly how hard it is.
