Hit Squad began as an idea of my father’s from the late 1970s that never got made. It’s now an espionage action-comedy set in 1990s London, following an international team of spies putting death before dishonour as they battle a murky world of hidden foes and dangerous villains.
It’s a full puppet show – next generation Supermarionation, built for an adult audience. We’re blending practical marionette work with modern digital effects and a considerably darker sense of humour than anything we’ve made before.
The series is being produced by Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe with Warner Bros. Animation, Mr Morris Productions and Anderson Entertainment. I’m executive producing, with Darren Walsh directing and Emmy-winning Black Mirror producer Russell McLean producing.
We previewed extensive footage at the Annecy Animation Festival in 2026, as part of the festival’s adult animation showcase, and the response was everything we’d hoped for.
